Best Age for Facelift

What you'll learn in this video

In this video, Dr. Parsa Cheraghipour explains that the general best age range for facelift surgery is around 40 to 55, but chronological age alone is not the deciding factor.

In this video you'll learn

  • The general age window that fits most patients
  • What “skin age” means in practice
  • When surgery under 40 can make sense
  • Why advanced age alone is not a barrier

What matters clinically is “skin age”—the real quality and condition of each person’s skin. Some patients with poor skin quality and early aging signs undergo facelift before age 40.

Conversely, many patients over 55, 60, or even 70 are also suitable facelift candidates when their health status allows.

Key takeaways

  • Ages 40–55

The most common window, though not an absolute rule.

  • ID age is not enough

Clinical decisions rely on skin and tissue assessment.

  • Skin age drives timing

Quality, sun damage, and laxity outweigh the number.

  • Under 40 is possible

Early aging or poor skin quality can justify surgery.

Physician quote

Generally speaking, the best age for facelift surgery is around 40 to 55 years old.

But the reality is that chronological age alone does not matter to us. What matters is people’s skin age.

Sometimes we have patients with poor-quality skin who have aged earlier; we perform facelift for them under age 40.

And some people are above 55, 60, or 70 years old—and we perform facelift for them at that age as well.

The most important message

The best time for a facelift depends not on your age number, but on skin quality, tissue laxity, and specialist evaluation.

Questions patients commonly ask

Generally around 40 to 55, but the final decision depends on skin age, skin quality, and the degree of laxity in each individual.
